Draw around your subject
A rough box is enough. Include a bit of background on every side — the model uses that contrast to find the edges.

PNG keeps the transparency. WebP does too and is smaller. JPEG needs a solid colour, which you can pick.
How long it takes
After the model is cached, a typical photo takes a few seconds on a laptop and a bit longer on a phone. The very first image is slower because the model has to download before anything can run.
Larger images take longer, but you do not need to shrink them first: the tool scales the region it sends to the model and puts the result back at full resolution.
Getting a clean edge the first time
Give the model contrast. A subject photographed against a wall of the same colour is genuinely hard, for software and for people.
Draw the focus box a little wider than the subject rather than tight against it. A box drawn inside the object leaves nothing for the model to compare against, and the result comes back nearly empty.
For hair, fur and fine detail, switch the quality setting to High and re-run — it is slower but noticeably better at fringes.
Keyboard and mobile shortcuts
On desktop: Ctrl+V or Cmd+V pastes an image straight into the tool, and dragging a file anywhere onto the frame loads it.
On a phone: tap the frame to open your photo library, then drag one finger to draw the focus box. The controls sit below the image so your hand never covers the picture.
